Happy Spaces!

In showing and selling homes, we have seen countless times how one feature or space can really make a difference to a buyer. In honor of the month of November, which seems naturally to be synonymous with happiness/gratefulness, we thought it might be fun to share with you one feature or place in our homes that brings happiness to each of us on The Carrie & Renee Team.
Based on the American Time Use Survey, we spend about 62% of our waking time at home so hopefully everyone finds some happiness in their homes and can reflect on that space for them. Here are ours….

CARRIE……
We live in an older 4 square in the heart of Glen Ellyn. My special place is our front porch where you will often find us. It is our connection to our neighborhood. I just love starting my day sitting out front drinking my coffee with our dog Rosie and greeting all my neighbors. And it’s not a bad place to hang at the end of the day with a glass of wine.
RENEE….
We have done so much work on virtually every room in our house but oddly the room that we did the least work to brings me happiness. No matter if it is a gloomy or sunny day- our dining room feels more like a solarium. This room has held a lot of family dinners filled with laughter and love, zoom calls as well as a place for the dogs to bask in the sun.

LAUREN….
Years ago when we re-sided our house, we updated our old cedar front porch column with a simple white aluminum wrap because that is what fit in our budget at the time. When we recently poured a new porch, we took the opportunity to update the post with a new recessed panel composite post. From Spring through Fall, I sit on my porch almost every day, and this simple change brings me a smile every time I see it.
STEPHANIE…
Right now my favorite place in our home is our basement workout area. Having all the boys home during the pandemic was a special time for me. That bonus family time included loud music and workouts to keep our sanity and stay in shape in their “dojo”.  Since the nest has emptied,  the workouts are quieter but I have prettied up the room by adding my own special piece, a Pilates
reformer.
May Thanksgiving and the rest of the year remind us to be grateful for what we have.
