Warrenville

Part of the Illinois Technology and Research Corridor, Warrenville is a top location for employees of local research and tech companies. It's known for seemingly infinite outdoor recreation options, with thousands of acres of open space, miles of paths, and trails. Five forest preserves border Warrenville, and the park district operates nine community parks. On foot, bike, or cross country skis, outdoor lovers can take advantage of several miles of turf and trail in Blackwell Forest Preserve, including access to the Illinois Prairie Path. McKee Marsh features observation decks and a bird blind. In the winter, local thrill-seekers head to Mount Hoy to take an 800-foot ride down the hill on a snow tube. Indoor fun includes Main Event, an entertainment center with bowling, laser tag, a gravity ropes course, video games, billiards, and plenty of food and drinks. It's right by a cinema with 17 screens. The Acorn Community Theatre is community-run and presents full-scale Broadway musicals. Warrenville is also home to the Tunes of Glory Pipe Band, a bagpipe and drum band. Together, the local arts council, public library district, and park district support a calendar of performing arts and cultural events. A nearby Metra stop or I-88 offer Chicago commuters access to the city.
